BIGKiDs Study Expands Collaboration Across Mexico
The Sampson Lab is proud to recognize the physician collaborators in Mexico who are helping expand the reach of the BIGKiDs Study and bring kidney genetics research to more families affected by nephrotic syndrome.
Led at Boston Children’s Hospital by Lead Investigator and Nephrology Physician Dr. Matt Sampson and Dr. Marina Trimmer Torres, Coordinator of the BIGKiDs Study, this collaboration includes clinicians and medical professionals across hospitals in Mexico who are contributing their expertise, network, and patient data to advance research for children with kidney disease.
Among the collaborators are Dr. Gabriela Torres, Dr. Vanessa Parra, Dr. Guillermo Benítez, Dr. Marcela Reyes González; Dr. Rogelio Maya, Dr. Carolina Chávez Cordova, Dr. Juan Luis Sánchez, and Dr. Angélica López, all based in Mexico City.
Their involvement strengthens the study’s reach and supports a shared goal: improving how researchers and clinicians understand nephrotic syndrome, including the genetic factors that may shape diagnosis, care, and future treatment.
The BIGKiDs Study is focused on better understanding nephrotic syndrome through genetic research, with the goal of supporting earlier answers and more informed care for patients and families. Through partnerships with dedicated collaborators in Mexico, the study continues to reflect the importance of global collaboration in advancing pediatric kidney disease research.
“We hope this will be of great help to our children with nephrotic syndrome,” shared Dr. Gabriela Torres, reflecting the shared commitment behind this collaboration.
The Sampson Lab is grateful to Dr. Torres, Dr. Parra, Dr. Benítez, Dr. Reyes González, Dr. Maya, and Dr. López for their partnership, dedication, and passion for expanding access to research.
