Celebrating Our Lab Members’ Next Chapters

The Sampson Lab is proud to celebrate three of our team members as they take exciting next steps in their academic and professional journeys.

Choah Kim will be attending Yale School of Medicine, and Eric Sakkas will be attending UMass Chan Medical School to pursue an MD/PhD, where they will continue building on their passion for patient care, research, and advancing medicine. Junmo Sung will be pursuing a PhD in Genomics and Data Science at King’s College London, where he will continue exploring new research opportunities and contributing fresh perspectives to the field.

During their time in the Sampson Lab, Choah, Eric, and Junmo have brought curiosity, dedication, and a strong commitment to scientific discovery:

  • Choah Kim contributed to work focused on genes and biomarkers associated with nephrotic syndrome, helping support a deeper understanding of kidney disease.

  • Eric Sakkas brought a thoughtful, interdisciplinary approach to the lab’s research, including work that supports allele-specific expression analyses.

  • Junmo Sung contributed to research on the genomics and transcriptomics of kidney disease, using data-driven approaches to support a better understanding of kidney disease biology.

We are incredibly proud of all they have accomplished and grateful for the impact they have made as part of our team. We look forward to seeing the meaningful work they will continue to do in medicine, research, and beyond.

Congratulations to Choah, Eric, and Junmo on this exciting milestone!
